The Brewery and Restaurant U Fleků in Prague is one of the most famous and most visited Czech cultural sights, such as the Prague Castle, Old Town Square, Vyšehrad, the Jewish Town or the National Museum.
The U Fleků dark lager is brewed using purely natural ingredients – water, hops, yeast and four kinds of barley malt. We use no artificial colours and preservatives.
You can taste this beer only in our restaurant. The daily consumption is about 2000 glasses of beer as the restaurant U Fleků is the largest in the whole country. Our guests, including celebrities, athletes and businessmen, come from all over the world.
The brewery celebrates its 515th anniversary in 2014.
A wall in the garden is decorated with two cannon balls, a reminder of the Thirty Years‘ War.
History of the brewery U Fleků
The first written document dates back to 1499 when the house was bought by maltster Vít Skřemenec. The brewery U Fleků is thus the only brewery in Central Europe which has been brewing continuously for over 500 years. The brewery was nationalised with the onset of the communist rule. The original owners, the Brtník family, regained the brewery and restaurant in 1991, after the fall of the regime.
